ECIBE joined the global “No Plastic Bags” Day by taking part in a citywide clean-up and environmental awareness campaign in Sulaimani. This activity focused on reducing plastic pollution while encouraging people to protect public spaces and support a more sustainable lifestyle.

ECIBE members

spent the day cleaning public areas, including the public garden and Azadi Park. These places are used daily by families, children, and visitors, so keeping them clean is an important step toward a healthier environment. During the activity, the team also spoke with people in the park, sharing the goals and messages of ECIBE. They explained how reducing plastic waste, rethinking daily consumption habits, and choosing reusable materials can make a real positive impact on the city’s environment.

The campaign

also included planting trees in cooperation with several environmental organizations. Tree planting is one of the simplest but most effective actions to improve air quality, support biodiversity, and create greener urban spaces. By working together with other groups, ECIBE helped build stronger connections within the environmental community and encouraged more collective action in the future.
